Although we as African Americans were officially granted our freedom nearly 150 years ago, many of us do not feel truly free. Some of us get up and go to jobs that we do not enjoy, working for people who don’t even like us. Then, when those companies use us up and feel like our value outweighs our cost, they get rid of us.
There is a great deal of frustration with how our kids are being educated, and the violence that has taken too many young lives in our community. Mass incarceration has ripped the black family to its core and an entire industry has been built from the prison industrial complex.
The solutions must lie with us. Taking charge of our individual and collective future requires a set of coordinated strategies that relate to how we build resources, protect our resources and target those resources. Education must become a leading priority that goes beyond what our children learn in school everyday. We must recommit ourselves to building and supporting black businesses, strengthening our families and sustaining our communities. We must commit ourselves to building wealth and shifting the standards. We must commit ourselves to pushing beyond the systems, and limitations set for us. We must commit ourselves to being Black Squared (Beyond Limits and Above Common Knowledge)
Black Squared was initially created as a thought to inspire the Black community to be better than the status quo and to overcome the stereotypes and systems that were created to keep black people down. The meaning of Black Squared is To be Black B.eyond L.imits and A.bove C.ommon K.nowledge.
Black Squared aims to bridge the wealth gap between Black Communities and their white counterparts. With wealth we can build a better economy and community for ourselves. We aim to take the Black Community from “Generational Ignorance to Generational Wealth” by educating in financial literacy, helping build and generate wealth, protecting families and their assets thru different guarantees, and teaching and implementing different financial strategies that will help our people exist without limits.
It is within our rights to go after what we want in life, and Black Squared is here to provide value to those who are tired of living paycheck to paycheck, not having any freedom, and want to exist outside the scope of the designed system that hasn’t worked for us and turn their dreams into attainable goals.
The next step of the Civil Rights Movement must go beyond voting for the right politician. It must include strategies for building wealth, power, and education so that we can achieve our individual and collective goals. Being Black Squared, will help you on that journey.
The future belongs to us.
